Presswork

“Presswork is the general term used to describe a series of metalworking processes involved in the manufacturing of metal parts and components, otherwise known as metal pressings.”

Redfern Stevens are presswork specialists with over 85 years experience in the production of high and low volume metal pressings. We employ the most advanced and cost effective production methods to achieve the best value and quality for our customers.

Presswork Processes

Typical presswork processes include: shearing, bending, deep drawing, forging and jointing. Within these general classifications a whole range of operations can be performed in the metal manufacturing process to produce the exact specifications for a wide range of components. For example, shearing includes operations such as the cutting, stamping, punching, trimming and shaping of metal parts. Other metal forming processes associated with presswork include: embossing, bulging, flange forming, edge bending and many more.

Presswork can be a simple process or a multi-stage process depending on the complexity of the component required.
